This is inappropriate, re-traumatizing and UNNECESSARY for healing from childhood trauma. In researched-based trauma therapy we ACKNOWLEDGE the trauma (the past) WITHOUT explicitly talking about it! Trauma therapy helps develop a different (more adaptive) RELATIONSHIP to the traumatic memories. By Dr. Janina Fisher . Early pioneers in the field of trauma therapy mistakenly assumed that being able to “talk about what happened” or “tell the story” was sufficient to resolve “the trauma.” The assumption was that you should be able to talk about the “worst” of the traumatic memories.
