If considering trauma therapy please know…

If you are considering trauma therapy, please know that when properly trained, a trauma therapist will NEVER ask you for any details of your memories, will NEVER ask for a scene-by-scene retelling! This is inappropriate, re-traumatizing and UNNECESSARY for healing from childhood trauma. In researched-based trauma therapy we ACKNOWLEDGE the trauma (the past) WITHOUT explicitly talking about it! Trauma therapy helps develop a different (more adaptive) RELATIONSHIP to the traumatic memories. By Dr. Janina Fisher . Early pioneers in the field of trauma therapy mistakenly assumed that being able to “talk about what happened” or “tell the story” was sufficient to resolve “the trauma.” The assumption was that you should be able to talk about the “worst” of the traumatic memories. Thankfully, research on neurobiology has informed trauma therapy over last 20 years (Thank you @bessel_van – trauma researcher/expert) . Our Bodies Need Movement

“Our bodies love movement. When we stretch or dance, our bodies adjust, realign and start to become fluid with the rhythm of life. Our mood lifts and we feel more connected with the world around us. If you are feeling stuck, ready to release old energy, or eager to feel more alive, try moving your body. By giving your muscles a chance to do what they were created for, you may find that all areas of your body and your life benefit as well.” Excerpt by @mtmadisyntaylor Art by @brookeshaden . . . . . #innerchild #selflove #love #healing #selfcare #recovery #mentalhealth #spirituality #relationships #yoga #mindfulness #selfawareness #innerchildwork #awakening #healingjourney #complexptsd #holistic #higherconsciousness #cptsdrecovery #meditation #healyourself #ptsd #cptsd #health #traumahealing #complextrauma #selfhealing
