Parts within us…

Our other “selves” or “parts” within us: “the self who was in the camp wasn’t me, it isn’t the person who is here..no, it’s too unbelievable. And everything that happened to this other “self” the one from Auschwitz, doesn’t touch me now, doesn’t concern me, so distinct are deep memory and common memory…without this split, I wouldn’t be able to come back to life.” . Trauma Replay

View this post on Instagram

“if the elements of the trauma are replayed again and again, the accompanying stress hormones engrave those memories even more deeply into the mind. Ordinary, day-to-day events become less and less compelling. Not being able to deeply take in what is going on around us makes it impossible to feel fully alive. It becomes harder to feel the joys aggravations of ordinary life, harder to concentrate on the tasks at hand. Not being fully alive in the present keeps us more firmly imprisoned in the past” excerpt from #thebodykeepsthescore by Dr. Van der Kolk (p. 67) Art by #geneszafran . Trauma-focused psychotherapy is ONE of many ways to work on healing trauma. For most women it requires a combination of psychotherapy, nutrition, supplements, biofeedback, good sleep, meditation, yoga, martial arts, nature, spirituality/religion, medication, energy healing (e.g. Reiki), massages, work-life balance, community involvement, support of family/friends, self-help books/blogs/podcasts, and the list goes on and on! You can start anywhere and allow your intuition to guide YOU…one step at a time. Healing trauma is a journey…a work-in-progress! . . . . . #innerchild #selflove #healing #mentalhealth #spirituality #relationships #yoga #yogini #mindfulness #selfawareness #innerchildwork #awakening #healingjourney #complexptsd #holistic #higherconsciousness #cptsdrecovery #meditation #healyourself #ptsd #cptsd #health #traumahealing #complextrauma

True self and calling upon feminine wisdom…

View this post on Instagram

“often in our world we tend to think of strength as a quality that arises from a place of firm determination and a will to succeed no matter the cost. Even though we might want to think of a #strongWoman as being defined in this way, what really makes a woman confident is her capacity for listening to her true self and being able to call upon her #feminineWisdom to any situation that may arise. A woman does not need to step into an assertive role or act like a man in order to be effective at what she does–she simply needs to get in touch with her insight and sense of compassion to truly demonstrate the depth of her strength….If we can connect with this part… we will find that there is an unlimited wellspring of strength available to us… When we learn to integrate this source of strength into our daily tasks and decision-making, we will find that we can be more flexible and open to the things that happen around us and more receptive to new ideas. Not only will we see the world in a different light, but we will truly start to realize the potential for this form of energy to both empower ourselves and those around us. .
